Harriet's Story
I
am the proud owner of Sultash Saucy Brown (Harriet) a 4 year old
brindle Boxer.
Last year, I began to notice that she was
intermittently lame after her walks, particularly if she had chased
deer.
I mentioned this to the vets at Glenleigh. After
initial examinations didn’t reveal anything, X-rays were obtained.
I was horrified to find out the radiographs showed mild hip
dysplasia of the left hip.
After discussion with the vet about how best to manage
Harriet’s condition, it was suggested to me that physiotherapy
would greatly benefit her.
Liz contacted me promptly and we arranged our first
meeting at the veterinary surgery. Liz is a very bubbly enthusiastic
character and Harriet is always happy to go for her treatments.
Liz advised me about the various supplements that
would help keep Harriet’s joints healthy. We also discussed her
diet and exercise regime.
Liz recorded various measurements of Harriet’s
muscles in order to monitor / detect any changes in muscle mass and
act accordingly.
As well as massage Harriet’s sessions have consisted
of pulsed magnetic field therapy and stretching exercises. Liz
always works on every inch of Harriet to ensure she feels A1 all
over. Liz tells me which parts of Harriet are particularly tight so
that I can continue with the stretching exercises at home. She has
provided me with clear diagrams so I am able to do this.
Harriet sees Liz every 4 weeks this is the optimum
period for her. She always looks wonderful after her sessions and I
am pleased that she can walk /run for an hour off the lead every day
without any problems.
